Nathan has now played over 120 Tests & 31 ODI/T20I Games for Australia, with an incredible over 500 Test Wickets to his name and a host of Test records to go with it.

He is the greatest Australian Test finger spin bowler and in the top 7 International Test Wicket takers of all time.

Nathan is Australia’s 3rd Greatest Test Wicket-taker behind Shane Wane and Glen McGrath. He is the 2nd greatest international Test finger spin bowler and the fourth-greatest international Test spin bowler. 

He is just the 14th Australian to play 100 Tests or more.

He now holds the most wickets of any Australian Test bowler in India, as well as the leading-ever Test wicket-taker in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

After taking 8/64 in the second innings of the Test Match v India (Indore) in March 2023, he became the only Australian spinner to take 8 wickets in an innings twice. This 8/64 was the 2nd best figures ever for Australia in Tests against India (behind his 8/50 in 2017 at Bengaluru).

Nathan has taken the most wickets in Asia by a player outside of Asia. He has taken more five-wicket Test hauls against India than any other international test bowler.

Career best wickets tally of 12 wickets in a Test match against India at the Adelaide Oval in December 2014. This is the record for most wickets in a Test match by an Australian finger spin bowler.

Nathan took  5/34 on his Test Debut against Sri Lanka, in 2011, including taking a wicket with his very first ball bowled in Test cricket.

Nathan was named Australian Test Cricket Player of the Year 2018, ICC Test Team of the Year 2018 & 2019, CA Sheffield Shield Player of the Year 2020/21 and NSW Sheffield Shield MVP 2020-21.

He is the leader of the Australian team song; a recognition of his skill, character, and team-first approach. He is currently the most capped member of the Australian Test Team.

The Lords Ashes Test in July of 2023 was Nathan’s 100th consecutive Test Appearance. He is the only bowler to ever achieve such a feat.

Nathan signed with the Melbourne Renegades ahead of BBL 13 in 2023.

Nathan signed with Lancashire CCC for the full 2024 County Cricket Season in November 2023.

On December 17th 2023 Nathan took his 500th Test Wicket against Pakistan at Optus Stadium, Perth. Nathan becomes just the 3rd Australian to ever achieve this feat & the 8th Test Cricketer ever to do so.

Nathan topped off a stellar year in 2023 by being named Shane Warne Australian Men’s Test Player of the Year.

Off-Field

Nathan is very focused on his family and friends and has high regard for junior cricketers and charitable organisations.

He has a very proactive mandate to “give back to the game”. He wants to aid and mentor junior cricketers of all abilities to partake in and enjoy the game of cricket. Nathan has also great respect for the community volunteers and coaches who provide the platform for the playing of the game at all levels.

He acknowledges, respects and honours what the game has given him.

He has a fondness for his Greenkeeping and Horticultural trade. Nathan holds a Cert III in Horticulture (Turf) from Canberra Institute of Technology (TAFE).

Nathan is also an ambassador to Cricket Australia’s National Inclusion Programs, which is CA’s award-winning diversity and inclusion program.

He recently launched his GOATD Digital Brand Platform connecting fans to elite athletes. He also owns the Spinna brand by way of providing specialist cricket coaching. 

In November 2022, Nathan launched his range of Nice Garry Children’s books. A fictional story of a young country cricketer making his way playing cricket in his country town and his on and off-field experiences and challenges that he faces in the process.
