On-Field

Sean made his debut for Australia at the age of 22, a testament to the high regard in which he is held by Cricket Australia.

Sean is a regular feature in the Australian Limited Overs squad and was one of the youngest recipients of the Steve Waugh Medal in 2013/14 as NSW’s Player of the Year. Sean would go on to win the award twice more in 2018/19 and 2020/21.

The 2020/21 season saw Sean cement himself as a genuine all-rounder across all three formats of the game being selected in the Australian Test Squad to take on India during their 2020/21 Tour of Australia, featuring in the ODI Team in the fixtures prior to the Test Series and gaining a contract with IPL powerhouse Royal Challengers Bangalore. 

Sean was named Sydney Sixers BBL12 Player of the Tournament. He earnt selection in Australia’s ODI Team for their tour of India March 2023 and to top it off he was awarded a Cricket Australia contract for season 2023/24.

In May 2023 during his county season stint with Surrey CCC, Sean equalled the record for the fastest-ever T20 Vitality Blast century, coming off only 34 balls.

Sean was a member of Australia’s 16-man 2023 ICC ODI World Cup Winning Squad in India.

Off-Field

In his spare time, Sean is a passionate and talented photographer, taking particular joy from nature and landscape photography. As evidenced by his Instagram page @sean_abbott

He is currently undertaking studies for a Masters of Business Administration (MBA).

Sean is also a keen outdoorsman, taking a great interest in camping, motor vehicles and exploring.
